Project Description

The 9th AU Private Sector Forum, held in Pretoria from November 13-15, 2017, focused on “Accelerating Africa’s Industrialisation through Digitization and Youth Technopreneurship”. This event was organized by the Department of Science and Technology, the African Union, the NEPAD Business Foundation, and Andalem, a research and advisory firm. The forum emphasized the importance of digital technology in fighting poverty, creating equal opportunities, and improving life quality.

Participants included telecom and tech companies, industrial leaders, and government representatives. They discussed how digital technology and tech entrepreneurship can drive Africa’s economic growth and sustainable development. The forum featured various sessions, panel discussions, and a start-up pitching event. Key topics were robotics and AI in Africa, connecting Africa to the global digital economy, sustainable energy, advancing science and technology, and fostering an environment for tech entrepreneurship. These discussions aimed to explore ways to leverage digital technologies for Africa’s progress.
